2017-2021
I hitched a lift with an Urban Gypsy, alongside her travelling sidekick dog, Badger and went on a road trip adventure over 5 years and 54,000km to see the 'gems' that make NZ the Greatest' country on the planet.

2024
I'm revisiting all my previous haunts and discovering many more too in 2024. This website will be a growing compendium of my daily travel spots I love.

...Starting in NORTHLAND you will discover  many more hot spots.

During 2025 the other REGION TABS will be slowly filled day by day. Eventually concluding in the South Island sometime late into 2025, possibly 2026.

Lake Ohau

This is a spot that the masses miss, and long may that be the case. Outside of Twizel, before Mt Cook is in my opinion one of NZs best lakes. Even better as the 17km journey in keeps motorhomers away. As I drove in I thought, it surely won't be free. But as fate has it, it was. There's no shops for 30kms, and that always keeps folks away. 2 days so far, and not one fellow camper. Views down the lake to the mountain ranges supporting Mt Cook. Bliss. I've even had Christmas Day here in the past. Yep, no campers then too.

New Zealand is packed full of magical gems

After 60,000 kilometres of trekking NZ, you'd think I'd seen it all. I haven't.
Still stumbling across new discoveries.
The country that keeps on giving.
